Pediatric Foundation of Georgia

                   The Georgia Chapter established a non-profit foundation in 1996.

The Pediatric Foundation of Georgia, exists to:

Promote the health, safety and well-being of children in Georgia.
Promote the practice of pediatrics as a medical specialty.
Acknowledge outstanding contributions of individuals on behalf of children.
Encourage students and residents in the study and training for pediatrics via scholarship support and recognition.
Promote excellence in pediatric care through medical education programs, research, and other activities.

Recent foundation grants include the following: 

  1. Scholarships to assist a resident from each program to attend the national conference of the AAP, Boston. $800.
  2. Wee Can Ski, Augusta, a program to involve children with disabilities in water recreation activities, $2200.
  3. Camp Kudzu, Atlanta, a summer camp for children with diabetes, $1000
  4. New York City Police & Firefighters Widows & Orphans Fund, $10,500. (This represented the proceeds of the 2001 Foundation golf tournament held after 9-11.)
  5. Emory University, Dept. of Pediatrics, $1000
  6. Medical College of Georgia,  Dept. of Pediatrics, $1000
  7. Mercer Univ./ Macon,  Dept. of Pediatrics, $1000
  8. Mercer Univ./ Savannah,  Dept. of Pediatrics, $1000
  9. Morehouse Dept. of Pediatrics, $1000
 
The foundation makes grants to non-profit organizations and institutions in support of these goals. Click here for a copy of the application. Applications must be submitted prior to May 15th for the spring board meeting or September 15th of each year for consideration at the Foundation's Board meeting in the fall.

The Foundation's primary fund raiser is held each fall at one of Georgia's premier golf courses.   For information about participating in next year's tournament, either as a player or Corporate Sponsor, call 404-881-5091 or the Chapter office.
