January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month

Did you know that January is cervical cancer awareness month? The Chapter President, Evelyn Johnson, MD, and the Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Health, Brenda Fitzgerald, MD, have joined in an effort to bring attention to preventing cervical cancer by routinely administering HPV vaccine to pre-teens.

Provider Update from the Ga Vaccines for Children Program

The Georgia Vaccines for Children Program (VFC) recently sent an important update to all VFC enrolled providers(January 8, 2015). Included in the update are: On-line ordering via GRITS, VFC office closure information, 2014-2015 flu vaccine shipment update and an update on GRITS. The complete update can be found here

NICHQ Publishes "Working Toward Baby Friendly" video

The National Institute for Children's Health Quality has published a YouTube video entitled [Part 2] Working Toward Baby-Friendly: Improving Breastfeeding Support in US Hospitals.  This video follows the story of two teams in NICHQ's Best Fed Beginnings initiative as they take the final steps toward Baby-Friendly designation.
