Welcome!
April 2024
Spring comes to Georgia and hope all our members are doing well and getting a little vacation at this time of year. The state legislature finished up its 40-day session on March 28 and all in all, a pretty good session for Georgia pediatricians and our young patients. Click here to visit our Legislative page for a summary of the action. And one more thing: if you contacted your legislator(s) during the session, please take time to drop them a brief thank you note before April is out. We often ask things of our legislators—and rightly so—they are there to represent us. But sometimes we forget to thank them when they support our issues.
Jim Soapes
Charity Golf Classic
In a few weeks, we’d head to the golf course for the Jim Soapes Charity Golf Classic benefitting the Pediatric Foundation of Georgia, the Chapter’s philanthropic foundation. The date is April 24, at the Cherokee Run Golf Course in Conyers. To register, click here. We’re entering the final year of our Endowment Campaign to raise $500,000 to for the foundation. Please consider a gift to it and help us reach this wonderful milestone! We only have $67,000 to go! To donate, just click here and it will take you to the Foundation page here on the website.
Speaking of events, the Georgia AAP regularly produces webinars, EPIC ® programs, and ECHO® programs for our your benefit—and they are always free to our members. These programs focus on immunizations, breastfeeding, mental & behavioral health, and other timely topics. Visit our calendar page for a list of all our upcoming events.
And finally, just around the bend is Pediatrics By the Sea! Our popular summer CME conference will be held June 12-15, 2024 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Amelia Island, Fla. This year’s program chair is Edward Clark, MD, FAAP, chair of pediatrics at Mercer-Macon and the Olson Children’s Hospital in Macon. Our national faculty include David Schonfeld, MD, Los Angeles; (behavioral pediatrics); Rachel Caskey, MD, Chicago (ID); Linda Parsi, MD, Houston; and Robert Voigt, MD, Little Rock plus Lynn Davidson, MD, New York (both D-B pediatrics). For information and to register, click here.
As always, please let us know at the Georgia AAP office if we can ever assist you.
