Activity Description

This program focuses on sharing information on breastfeeding services provided by the Georgia Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program so pediatricians and pediatric staff can optimize their understanding of the program. The Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics has had a history of collaborating with Georgia WIC to develop and share resources. This program reviews program benefits and eligibility requirements, Georgia WIC breastfeeding services, and describes how referrals can help patients meet their breastfeeding goals.

Target Audience

This educational initiative is designed for pediatricians, nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare professionals who are interested in improving their knowledge of Georgia WIC.

  • Describe Georgia WIC Program benefits and eligibility requirements
  • Discuss Georgia WIC breastfeeding services
  • Identify benefits provided for breastfeeding families 
  • Describe how referrals to Georgia WIC can help patients
